QA Automation Engineer (1–5 Yrs)

About the role

We are hiring a QA engineer whose primary skill is test automation, not manual testing. You will design, build and maintain automated test suites for our web, mobile and API products, and wire them into CI/CD so every release is checked before it ships.

You will work inside an agile team with developers and product owners, own test coverage for your area, and help move us from manual regression to fast, reliable automated pipelines.

What you will do

• Design and build automation frameworks for UI, API and integration testing, using maintainable patterns such as Page Object Model and data-driven tests.

• Write, run and maintain automated regression, smoke and end-to-end suites.

• Automate REST and GraphQL API tests, including schema, contract and negative-path checks.

• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines so tests run on every pull request and deployment.

• Analyse failures, separate real defects from flaky tests, and fix flakiness at the root.

• Log, track and retest defects with clear reproduction steps.

• Review requirements and user stories early and write test cases and acceptance criteria with the team.

• Run basic performance and load tests and report results.

• Publish test reports and coverage metrics the team can act on.

• Do targeted exploratory testing where automation does not pay off.

What you must have

• 1–5 years of hands-on QA experience, with test automation as your main day-to-day work.

• Deep, hands-on experience with at least one UI automation tool: Selenium WebDriver, Playwright or Cypress.

• Strong coding skills in at least one language: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or C#.

• Experience with a test framework such as TestNG, JUnit, PyTest, Mocha/Jest or NUnit.

• API test automation with Postman/Newman, REST Assured or an equivalent library.

• Working knowledge of Git and of running tests in a CI/CD pipeline.

• Solid grasp of testing fundamentals: test design techniques, SDLC/STLC, defect lifecycle, regression strategy.

• Comfort writing basic SQL to validate data.

• Clear written communication for bug reports and test documentation.

You do not need every tool listed below. We hire for depth in one stack and the ability to pick up the rest.

• Test management and reporting: Jira, Xray/Zephyr, TestRail, Allure, Extent Reports

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-assisted testing (Playwright test agents/MCP, GitHub Copilot or Claude Code for test generation, self-healing tools such as Testim, Mabl or testRigor), and the judgment to review AI-generated tests critically.

• ISTQB Foundation or an advanced automation certification.

• Contract testing (Pact), visual regression (Applitools, Percy) or accessibility testing (axe).

• Testing on a cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP).

• Security testing basics with OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite.

• Experience in a regulated domain such as banking, fintech or healthcare.

What we expect by experience level

• 1–2 years: Writes and maintains automated tests inside an existing framework; follows coding standards; learns fast.

• 3–5 years: Designs or extends the framework; owns CI integration; mentors juniors; drives flaky-test fixes and coverage strategy.
